As Lahemaa National Park is so diverse in its nature, communities, and areas of activity, the wealth of experiences here is not limited to visual sensations alone. Nature Lahemaa National Park is truly rich in forests – it is one of Europe’s largest forest protection areas. Additionally, the arrival of glacial ice 10,000 years ago scattered boulders across the northern coast – the most easily found are Majakivi (3rd largest) and Jaani-Tooma boulder (20th largest) in Kasispea. Estonia’s largest erratic boulder, Letipea Ehalkivi, is located 30 km east of Lahemaa as the crow flies. However, the national park’s diverse hiking trails in forests, bogs, and along the coastline invite you to explore nature. The Oandu-Aegviidu-Ikla hiking trail also begins in Lahemaa.
Villages In Lahemaa, diverse settlements enhance the beautiful nature. Võsu, Lahemaa’s resort center, invites with its ideal coastline for summer holidays, numerous eateries, and a lively evening scene. The picturesque captains’ village of Käsmu, however, offers the opportunity to escape the hustle and bustle and enjoy sea views and the surrounding forests for shorter and longer walks. In Viinistu, the cultural hub of the national park, you will find Estonia’s largest privately owned art museum and, during the season, all kinds of performances and concerts. Culture and History

In Lahemaa’s history, manor houses have played an important role. The renovated Palmse, Sagadi, and Vihula manors pamper visitors with various services and invite everyone to enjoy their charm year-round. Estonia’s largest manor is located in Kolga. For those interested in military heritage, the mystical Hara submarine degaussing station is open for visits, which is currently being developed as a small harbor.
