Hiking trails

The best way to explore the nature of Lahemaa is to find enough time and comfortable hiking equipment and take on the discovery of the local hiking and study trails. The hiking trails in Lahemaa have varying difficulty levels and are diverse – there are hour-long bog trails, a 45 km Oandu-Ikla hiking trail, and even a rocky kilometer to the northernmost point of mainland Estonia, Purekkari Peninsula. The forests of the Käsmu peninsula invite you to explore on foot or by bike. Lahemaa is also crossed by the long-distance hiking trail E11, which is called the Forest Hiking Trail in the Baltic States and starts in the city of Scheveningen in the Netherlands and ends in Tallinn.

We also recommend bringing a guide with you on the hiking trails in Lahemaa, whom you can find here.

When going into nature, always make sure that the burden you bring with you is limited to your presence. Sort packaging and used napkins according to waste management rules. Keep the hiking trails in Lahemaa clean!

Study programme 'Water wizard's expedition at the source of clean water' by the Clean Water Theme Park is an authentic and interesting service, which introduces Estonia and the bowels of the earth. Its keywords are environmental sensitivity and authentic natural and cultural experiences. The characteristics of the Pandivere Upland and the nitrate-sensitive area of Pandivere-Adavere-Põltsamaa is used to show how karst is formed and explain the phenomenon of karst. We start exploring Lahemaa National Park with a nice walk in charming Viru bog. The area has been made accessible with a specially constructed boardwalk, giving visitors an up close and rare view of nature in this wetland. After the walk we will enjoy a lovely coffee break with local dessert.

On our way back to Tallinn we will make a photo stop to capture the splendor of Jägala waterfalls. Estonia´s highest falls are a delight to visit throughout all the seasons and even more impressive in the height of winter when sculptures of solid water are the creators of frozen art not to be missed.

A pleasant outdoor activity is a good change from everyday life!

We hike or strap on snowshoes and join an experienced guide who knows all about surviving in nature! Whether it is summer, spring, autumn or winter, we hike to the Kõnnu Suursoo bog tower, from where we can enjoy views of the bog meadows of Northern Kõrvemaa. You can also enjoy a picnic in the fresh air or try a traditional Estonian lunch at a local tavern.

After the hike, we head to a traditional Estonian sauna in the forests of Kõrvemaa, where you can warm up your body and, if desired, order home-cooked meals.

Let's go paddleboarding!
What is it? SUP (Stand Up Paddle in English) is a nice way to discover different bodies of water. A paddle board is one big board, which is about 3 meters long, 80 cm wide, and has a fin under it. We move forward by rowing.

Paddleboarding is suitable for anyone who enjoys water and paddling. It is a great opportunity to discover beautiful nature, enjoy company, and take time off.
