The best way to explore Lahemaa’s nature is to set aside enough time, pack comfortable hiking gear, and embark on discovering the local hiking and nature trails. Lahemaa’s trails vary in difficulty and character – from one-to-two-hour bog loops and the 45 km Oandu-Ikla hiking trail to a rocky kilometer leading to Purekkari Cape, the northernmost tip of mainland Estonia. The forests of Käsmu peninsula invite exploration both on foot and by bike. Lahemaa is also traversed by the E11 long-distance hiking trail, whose Baltic section is known as the Forest Hiking Trail, and which begins in the city of Scheveningen in the Netherlands and ends in Tallinn.
For Lahemaa’s hiking trails, we recommend bringing a guide, whom you can find here.
When venturing into nature, always ensure that your impact on the environment is limited to your presence. Sort any packaging and used napkins according to waste management rules. Keep the hiking trails in Lahemaa clean!

Poolsaare kõrgeimasse punkti liivaluite harjal on ehitatud 13,5 meetri kõrgune vaatetorn, kust võib näha suurt osa poolsaarest, samuti Kolga lahte koos väikesaartega. Rajal asub Eesti suuruselt kolmas rändrahn Majakivi.
Kogenud loodusgiid tutvustab kõike rajal nähtavat: linde, putukaid ja taimi. Metsas läheb alati kõht tühjaks, võta võileib kaasa.
Kohtume Hara-Juminda teeäärses parklas.
The Energy Track winds its way through places where you will feel on top of the world and truly recharge your batteries. The track is 1.7 km long and starts and ends by the Porkuni Limestone Museum in Küngassaare. It skirts Lake Porkuni before heading into the forest of the local manor park, which may have changed a lot over time but still retains some of the exotic bushes and trees planted here during the manor era. One of the most amazing sights along the track is Porkuni’s limestone outcrop. You will also pass the head of the Valgejõe River, karst features and more. The track is marked with information stands.
which has a diving tower and where you can hire boats. It is also home to the Kaie spring. Folk tales talk of a slave girl named Kaie whose beauty caught the eye of the lord of the manor. But his love for the girl was not reciprocated, and it is said that one day while Kaie was gathering hay by the lake he threw her into the water. Unable to swim, she drowned, and the hay in her apron is said to have formed the lake’s floating islands.
Puhta vee teemapark or Clean Water Theme Park is a science park that concentrates on topics related to clean water; here, you find answers to questions, such as how clean groundwater is generated, how life depends on clean water, or what alters the quality of water.
The theme park and its office are located on Pandivere uplands, on the area in Pandivere and Adavere-Põltsamaa that is sensitive to nitrates.
The theme park conveys the message of psychologist Tõnu Ots: ‘The Creator hid all of the world’s wisdom in the nature – our wisdom is to find it.’
The price for a programme instructor’s services is 54 euros per hour (in case of groups of more than 20 people, two instructors are required, and accordingly, the price is 108 euros per hour).
Purekkari Cape is the northernmost point of mainland Estonia.
The 1.5 km long rocky, boulder-strewn cape is located in Lahemaa National Park. The cape ends with a small island, which is only accessible when the water level is low. The thorny wild rose bushes are particularly eye-catching when in bloom during summer and when they have bright red fruit in autumn. Many migratory birds pass by here, making it a popular birdwatching spot.
Near the cape are former military installations and the Purekkari camping area, which is equipped with a campfire site, shelter, and information boards.
NB! The road to the parking lot is narrow and cannot be accessed by large buses.
Julgemad saavad ujuda laukas. Puhkehetkel keedame teed ja sööme.

Elamuslik valgusretk klaakajakiga Äntu järvel, kus avastad looduse ilu läbi läbipaistva kajaki või SUPilaua pimedas, tutvudes samal ajal veekogu floora ja fauna mitmekesisusega.
Äntu Sinijärv on järv Lääne-Virumaal Väike-Maarja vallas. Järv asub umbes 7 kilomeetrit Väike-Maarjast lõuna pool.
See on Eesti kõige selgema veega järv, limnoloogiliselt tüübilt alkalitroofne järv. Järve oletatav läbipaistvus ulatub 15 meetrini, kuigi suurim sügavus järves on vaid 8 m.
Enjoy the beautiful nature and pick berries and mushrooms. The trail is accessible by bicycle, on skis, or on foot. Once you reach Ohepalu, you can continue your hike to Udriku lakes or even Mõndavere, Viitna, or Lahemaa.
The first 1.5 kilometres of the trail are boggy, but after you cross Valgejõgi River, you will reach the Rutka hills, which run along eskers and are dry. This part of the trail is located in Ohepalu Nature Reserve.
In the autumn of 2018, the first 1.5 km section of the trail was reconstructed from the resources of the Tapa Municipality Government’s 2017 participatory budgeting project.
Rutkaste hiking trail is also called the Tapa–Ohepalu hiking trail.
Bicycles are available for rent at the Sagadi Hotel reception. Some of the bikes are equipped with child seats. Helmets and bike locks are also provided for all rentals.
Along with the bikes, you can get a map and good route recommendations from the hotel receptionist for exploring Lahemaa. The surrounding area offers beautiful nature and excellent roads for cycling. You can choose between easier routes on paved roads or more challenging trails through the forest, with distances ranging from 5 to 50 km.
The park with large ancient trees is an inseparable part of the manor. Sagadi Park has the thickest European white elm and 33 m oaks, which are some of the tallest in Estonia.
In 1985, a 5.1 hectare dendropark was built on the western side of the manor complex. Alien tree and shrub species have been planted in families, all species have been marked with labels, and there are information stands for those interested. A total of 120 species have been planted in the dendropark.
Eesti muinasjutud annavad pildi meie esivanemate meelelaadist ja väärtushoiakutest, kätkevad põlist tarkust ning peidetud õpetusi. Sageli jutustavad need lood just metsast.
